Kiin Reveals the Real Issue of Gen.G at the 2025 World Championship
Throughout 2025, it can be said that Gen.G has maintained a consistently high performance level, with all players meeting expectations. At the same time, they have secured 3 consecutive official titles, excluding the LCK Cup and First Stand earlier in the year, which were still in the testing phase. Everything was going well for Gen.G until they suffered a defeat against KT. From then on, many issues emerged, and recently, Kiin admitted: Gen.G is too stable, to the point of not keeping up with the meta.

Accordingly, Kiin mentioned in an interview reviewing Gen.G’s entire 2025 season: “Personally, I think my strength is the ability to master a champion faster than others when it becomes a ‘hot pick’ in the new meta. However, this year the meta has been stagnant, with old champions constantly appearing, so it’s hard for me to leverage that strength. I think the team needs to catch up with the meta better.”

Gen.G Shows the Issues of a Team That Has Been at the Top for Too Long
Of course, the reason Gen.G can reign at the top is due to the performance and display of their players, which has remained at the highest level throughout the time. However, because the formula and results are always correct, Gen.G has no need to change. But over time, this has caused the players to adapt more slowly compared to their opponents. For example, T1 is not afraid to experiment to find the most accurate formulas for their victories.

The players that Gen.G currently possesses are all top 1 or 2 in their respective positions within the professional LoL scene. Therefore, Gen.G needs to be bolder in their gameplay. Especially in tournaments like the World Championship – where the right breakthrough can lead to unexpected victories.
