As we know, on the afternoon of April 14, the LCK Spring 2024 finals took place between two “fierce rivals” Gen.G and T1. It can be said that, considering all the League of Legends tournaments around the world, it is hard to find a pair of rivals with more history than these two giants of the Korean esports scene. From 2022 to now, the two teams have faced each other 5 consecutive times – a record in LCK.

Ultimately, the victory belonged to Gen.G in a thrilling final that went to the last minute. This victory made Gen.G the first team in LCK history to win the tournament 4 times in a row. However, player Kiin garnered attention as he finally achieved his first title in his career. Although he is one of the veterans of LCK, glory had always eluded Kiin until the top laner born in 1999 joined the reigning LCK champions.

Notably, on Gen.G’s glorious day, a prominent name in the VCS community attempted a “fame grab”. Specifically, right after Kiin won the championship with Gen.G, former SBTC Esports star – Zeros immediately posted a picture of him shaking hands with Kiin from the time Zeros was still competing for Phong Vũ Buffalo. For those who don’t know, PVB of Zeros faced off against Kiin’s Afreeca Freecs at the 2018 World Championship. And as everyone can guess, the result was: PVB was utterly defeated by the LCK representative.

Zeros’s post made many fans of the former player laugh, but some felt uncomfortable as he “fame grabbed” Kiin and even referred to the Gen.G player as “Top God”. In reality, giving a title to a player is at the discretion of the fans. However, Kiin has never had a good record on the international stage, and in LCK, it is only now that he can finally claim a title. Previously, while playing for KT Rolster, Kiin frequently lost to Zeus. Calling him “Top God” at this moment might be a bit premature and easily controversial.

Anyway, this was a rather “innocuous fame grab” by Zeros. But through this post, we see how persistent Kiin has been, as many players before him had retired after only a brief moment in the spotlight.
