Kiaya candidly discusses GAM’s defeat at MSI 2025
Perhaps, after seeing the schedule for the Play-In stage of MSI 2025, many VCS fans thought of the worst-case scenario for GAM when in their very first match, they had to face a BLG that is the reigning runner-up of the tournament. And of course, the match outcome was as predicted when BLG won 3-0, with all three games being a complete domination from start to finish by the LPL representatives. In the post-match interview, Kiaya also spoke candidly about VCS’s comprehensive defeat in Vancouver recently.
Accordingly, Kiaya admitted that he personally had a very poor performance and that the result was indeed disappointing. However, Kiaya also stated: “Currently, GAM still has FURIA ahead. This is a new team, and we haven’t had much time to study them. But GAM will definitely try our best in this crucial match.”
Additionally, according to Kiaya, although the BO5 format makes it very difficult for teams that are significantly behind to create surprises, it also provides a not insignificant advantage: “For instance, if we lose 0-2, but if we can win Game 3, then the chance of a comeback is very high. I think if we win Game 3, the likelihood of winning the next two games is very high.”
GAM Still Has Hope at This Year’s MSI
In reality, if we look at the performances of the two matches in the Play-In stage, GAM’s chances of advancing are quite slim. However, GAM still has a match against FUR ahead. If they can secure a victory, GAM has a high chance of causing an upset against the winner of BLG/G2. Because if BLG plays at the level that took them to the finals of MSI and Worlds last year, G2 will find it very difficult to win.
Conversely, if GAM defeats FUR, it will create positive psychological momentum. Of course, no VCS fan wants GAM to be eliminated too early. But if this does happen, it is something that has been anticipated as the MSI 2025 format is quite harsh for teams from smaller regions.
