In the early hours of May 31st (Vietnam time), the next new champion of League of Legends – Aurora has officially been “teased”. An interesting point is that in the introduction video for Aurora, this character hardly says a word. Instead, the main storyteller and communicator is Ornn, as this demigod narrates Aurora’s journey to seek help for a friend. This adds to the mystery surrounding this character in the community.
Regarding her appearance, Aurora is introduced as belonging to the Vastaya race and has ears, a tail, and legs resembling those of a rabbit. Her weapon will be a small magical staff crafted by Ornn. This female champion will be a Mage and according to leaked information, she will fit in the Top Lane position.
Specifically, according to a leak from dataminer BigBadBear, Aurora will have a pair of extremely special eyes capable of controlling ghosts. Not stopping there, BigBadBear also revealed that this character has the ability to transform into an “evil entity” with her ultimate ability. Additionally, one of her skills is named “Exorcism” or “Banishment Spell”. There is a possibility that Aurora’s skill set will have similarities with Yorick or Swain, using souls, ghosts, or transformations to heal, increase durability, and deal damage.
Besides the skill set, some players are worried that Aurora will become a new “bloodsucking” tool for Riot, even though this character has just been released. The concern arises from the fact that “Bunny Girl” characters are often associated with seductive and alluring imagery. The introduction of a Vastaya female champion resembling a rabbit could lead to extremely “provocative” skins for this character. Furthermore, with features such as a female champion shaped like a rabbit, red hair, and glasses, Aurora is likely to become a hot topic for “adult” content.
The “Bunny Girl” image is actually not unfamiliar to League of Legends players. Riot has previously implemented this image in the Super Beast Squad and Bunny skins with characters like Miss Fortune, Riven, etc. Therefore, it would not be surprising if Riot Games applied this to a “real Bunny Girl” like Aurora. Thus, the idea of Aurora becoming a subject for “adult” products is just a matter of time.
Additionally, after announcing the prices for the skin packages related to the HoL Faker event, Riot Games has created a very “deep” impression regarding “bloodsucking”. Coincidentally, the timing of Aurora’s release is so close to this event that the League of Legends community has some rather “extreme” thoughts. Hopefully, Riot Games will not realize the aforementioned ideas and turn Aurora into the new “bloodsucking machine” in the future. If not, they will face significant backlash from the community.
