However, during JDG’s opening match in the LPL Spring 2024, Yagao became the center of attention for a rather foolish play. Specifically, when Yagao and Kanavi attacked the Top Lane, he moved too hurriedly and got hit by the turret. Instead of retreating completely out of the turret’s range, Yagao hesitated and was taken down by the turret shortly after.
Sitting next to Yagao, Kanavi immediately called out “roasting” him for this foolish play. “Hey, what are you doing? Run quickly or the turret will take you down now? Oh come on, why would you do that? Are you trying to be funny and make the audience laugh at this death?” – Kanavi “roasted” Yagao right after he was taken down by the turret.
Fortunately for Yagao, his “ridiculous” death did not cause JDG to pay a price. Essentially, JDG’s opponent in the opening match was just Rare Atom (RA), who was sitting at the bottom of the LPL Spring 2024 standings. Moreover, the advantage JDG had created earlier was too large, and Yagao’s death did not affect the overall game state.
Nevertheless, Yagao needs to minimize such mistakes in the future to help JDG aim for greater successes. This team’s ambition this season is likely to be major titles such as MSI or Worlds. It would be disastrous if such an error occurred in an important match against T1, Gen.G, leading to JDG’s defeat.
Perhaps Yagao himself has realized his mistake, as he later apologized to his teammates. Hopefully, this “humorous” play will become a significant lesson for this star and help Yagao play more cautiously and securely in the future.
