Oner Admits Mistake of T1’s Coaching Staff
During the recent Worlds 2025, in the decisive quarterfinal match against AL, Oner chose the champion Dr. Mundo. This was a very strong pick in the meta at that time, almost guaranteed to provide an advantage, and Dr. Mundo’s win rate was extremely high. If Oner hadn’t picked him, Tarzan would definitely bring him into the match. However, Oner made some significant mistakes in itemization for this champion, making Dr. Mundo in the hands of the T1 player perhaps one of the most harmless choices of Worlds 2025.

However, according to recent comments from Oner, it turns out that his incorrect itemization was partly due to the input from T1’s coaching staff. Specifically, Oner revealed: “To be honest, I didn’t think I liked this (the incorrect itemization) very much. But the audience seems to enjoy it, so I appreciate everyone for understanding. But don’t think I’m too clueless. I asked the coaching staff what items to build, and they guided me, and I followed. Then everyone criticized me. So, I hope you all understand that it was the coaching staff’s idea; I wanted to build Spirit Visage too.”

Thus, from Oner’s revelation, it can be said that T1’s coaching staff almost had a ‘self-destruct’ moment. Fortunately for this team, in that match, Faker and Gumayusi shone with their picks Mel – Ashe, helping T1 secure damage output in a match that was almost in a “handicap” situation. Notably, Oner still managed to secure the Dragon Soul by winning the Smite contest, which can be seen as this player’s way of “making amends.”

T1 Shows the Boldness of Champions
Of course, at this point, discussing the matches at Worlds 2025 is just a “post-game chat” since T1 has won the championship. But it also showcases the rare resilience of T1 – something any champion needs to possess if they want to conquer the peaks.
However, perhaps the T1 players need to be more cautious, as their players can’t always shine in a “handicap” situation, especially when the opponents are also extremely strong names.
