On April 9th, Gen.G defeated T1 with a score of 3-1 in the Grand Finals to claim the LCK Spring 2023 title. This result was considered quite surprising as T1 had shown a dominant performance prior to this. In fact, in the winners’ finals, Gen.G also lost to T1 rather quickly.

Unlike the previous match, Gen.G this time did not use any special picks to face T1. However, the exceptional form of Gen.G’s players meant that T1, despite not playing poorly, could not stop them. The standout player from Gen.G – Peyz had an explosive performance and excellently fulfilled his role of “carrying the team”.

When asked about the secret to achieving such high performance, Peyz gave an answer that made many fans laugh. “Actually, before this match, we didn’t practice at all. We didn’t even play ranked games or scrims. We realized that the more we practice, the more nervous and anxious the team becomes. The mental comfort helped us beat T1” – Peyz shared after the match.

Indeed, in such an important match as the LCK Spring 2023 Grand Finals, mental state is a crucial factor. The decision to skip all scrim and ranked schedules allowed Gen.G’s players to be mentally comfortable. Furthermore, this also helped avoid being read by T1 as in the winners’ finals.

In conclusion, Gen.G’s players deservedly won by addressing their mental issues before the match. This allowed Gen.G to head into MSI 2023 as the champions of the LCK region. Defeating the mighty T1 will surely boost Gen.G’s confidence significantly as they aim for a high achievement in the upcoming major tournament.
