At MSI 2023, GAM Esports will compete in the Play-In stage against Bilibili Gaming and Golden Guardians. These are two opponents considered quite strong, both hailing from Major regions (LPL and LCS). Many viewers believe that GAM can achieve a miracle against GG, but facing BLG will be very challenging. Moreover, BLG will surely learn from the match between GAM and Top Esports at Worlds 2022 to be more cautious against the representative from VCS.

Notably, Bin from BLG also shows determination to take down GAM. The reason given is simply that he wants to… avenge TES. In fact, Bin aims to win thoroughly against the representative from Vietnam. This is a completely feasible goal if Bin and his teammates play carefully and to their full strength. TES at Worlds 2022 was quite overconfident, which led to their defeat, and BLG has certainly learned a lot from that experience.

However, the representative from Vietnam should not be underestimated, as the entire roster has international competition experience. Furthermore, Support Zin has shown himself to be more experienced and unpredictable than Bie before. In the recent VCS Spring Final against SE, Zin was the main character who completely destroyed SE in game 2 with Nautilus, going down without dying and participating in most of GAM’s kills.

The only weakness of GAM currently may lie in Sty1e’s position, as he has to create moments of “playing solo” for Zin and Levi to support other lanes. Opponents have surely studied many of GAM’s matches to find ways to exploit Sty1e. The ADC of GAM is also a concern for many VCS viewers ahead of MSI 2023.

But surely, both GAM and BLG will strive with all their might. And who knows, on a beautiful day, GAM could surprise against the Spring 2023 LPL runner-up, just as they did against the Summer 2022 LPL runner-up – TES last year. However, to face each other, both BLG and GAM must put in the effort in their opening matches against their respective opponents, GG and R7.
