It can be said that 2023 will be one of the most extraordinary seasons for the League of Legends (LoL) community in Vietnam. Not only is it welcoming Riot as the direct publisher, but it also involves the tournaments and the teams themselves. What was thought to be the peak of GAM Esports’ failure has now been overshadowed by the more serious incidents concerning SBTC Esports at the VCS Hoàng Hôn 2023.

As of now, it remains a mystery what exactly SE has violated to have all their matches canceled. Moreover, this team is also under suspicion of salary debts and expelled player Palette from the gaming house overnight without any reason. Following this, members of the team’s management faced criticism from the VCS community for their harsh remarks directed at the fans. The incident has also involved CERBERUS Esports, causing the VCS community to almost forget about the matches.

Recently, commentator Hoàng Luân has also spoken out regarding the situation. In a recent stream, he stated: “I am explaining to you that to resolve this completely and thoroughly, the only way is for the police to get involved. For those organizing the tournament, Riot does not have the authority to investigate everything about an athlete according to the law. Riot is also just a civilian, so it cannot investigate everything thoroughly. It can only request to a certain extent but cannot find a way to investigate everything.”

From what commentator Hoàng Luân shared, it is evident that the current issues of VCS are not simple. While the tournament organizers do have some authority, it is clear that they find it challenging to address everything comprehensively. Furthermore, if this matter is of a more serious nature, it is entirely understandable for the authorities to step in.

At this point, the fate of team SE seems to be somewhat determined as they continue to make unexpected moves from within. However, VCS fans are certainly still waiting for a final outcome of the investigation to restore professionalism to the tournament as well as the Vietnamese LoL scene.
