HLE Lost to T1 Due to a Crucial Factor
Entering the final match of both teams in the first week of the LCK 2026 Group Stage Rounds 1-2, both T1 and HLE certainly aimed for victory. Not only because of the results on the leaderboard, but this was also a match between two teams that have become fierce rivals for various reasons. The eventual victory went to T1, helping both teams balance their stats and rankings after the first week ended. However, HLE lost to T1 due to a clear shortcoming: their macro ability at critical moments.

This was particularly evident in game 2, during T1’s rapid Baron execution and then in the decisive team fight. Although HLE had 2 Marksmen and executed Baron extremely quickly, they completely neglected to place vision around this Buff. By the time HLE realized, it was already too late.
In the decisive fight of the second game, not only Zeka made a mistake, but HLE’s players also positioned themselves poorly, failing to control the map directions and lacking appropriate movement paths. They lost the fight due to Faker’s incredibly quick reflexes, but prior to that, it was HLE who had put themselves at a disadvantage.

HLE Needs Losses Like Against T1, But Not to Accept Results
HLE’s defeat was somewhat predictable after the first game ended. However, how they handle the aftermath of the match and demonstrate in future matches is what truly matters. In the 2026 season, this is not HLE’s first defeat. They have shown progress, but more effort is still needed to compete for the title.
