HLE Faces Challenges After Loss to DK
In an online match of the EWC 2026 qualifiers for the Korea region, HLE, who had been undefeated across all competitions, surprisingly “fell” to DK — a team currently struggling after several consecutive losses. Although this defeat has not significantly affected HLE’s overall journey and goals, it has created difficulties as the team now faces a congested schedule in late May.

To maintain good results in the EWC 2026 qualifiers, HLE must win all remaining matches and reach the losers’ finals. However, if they reach this stage, HLE will have to play three consecutive days of competition across all formats on May 25, 26, and 27. Notably, any of these matches will significantly impact the ambitions of the “Oranges”.
Furthermore, their opponents in these matches will not be easy. First, to advance to Round 3 of the EWC 2026 qualifiers, HLE must defeat the winner of KT vs. BRO (likely KT, though BRO has been performing well recently). Next, they will face one of DNS, NS, or BNK. Overcoming this challenge means HLE will face DK or T1, either of which could pose serious difficulties for securing a win.

Following the BO5 series against DK or T1, HLE will face Gen.G in the LCK 2026 Rounds 1-2 group stage. This match against Gen.G will be in the final week of the group stage when rankings are likely set. HLE must ensure the best possible result while conserving strategic options, as Gen.G is expected to be their main competitor for the top spot representing LCK at MSI 2026.

This Is the Moment to Prove HLE’s Resilience
Playing multiple consecutive BO5s and consistently facing strong opponents is normal in esports. On the other hand, this phase is the real test of whether HLE’s ambition and resilience are enough to become champions this season.
