Gumayusi Teases a Favorite Champion for a Potential Skin if T1 Wins Worlds 2024
Since the beginning of his career, Gumayusi has been known for his diverse champion pool. While there are some limitations with champions like Ezreal and Zeri, compared to many other names in the League of Legends scene, Gumayusi certainly shouldn’t be underestimated, especially since T1’s playstyle rarely revolves around their AD Carry. However, over time, Gumayusi has also established his reputation, culminating in winning the Worlds Championship in 2023 last year.
This year at Worlds 2024, the “Prince” of T1 will embark on an even tougher journey with his teammates as they enter the tournament as the reigning champions.
Specifically, during a recent fan meeting in Hong Kong while the team was on their way to Europe for Worlds 2024, Gumayusi stated, “Varus has been buffed for this Worlds. If I perform well with Varus and win the championship, I will consider it.” Many fans probably know that Varus is one of the champions that has helped Gumayusi secure several important victories, notably against JD Gaming at Worlds 2023. However, when choosing a Worlds skin, Gumayusi opted for Jinx, much to the disappointment of many fans.
Gumayusi and T1’s Journey at Worlds 2024 Will Be Challenging
Before heading into Worlds 2024, T1 has shown that their performance has been significantly lower than last year. In fact, T1 almost didn’t qualify for the biggest tournament of the year in the League of Legends scene. However, thanks to some timely standout performances, T1 managed to overcome KT Rolster and became the last team to qualify for the tournament. Nevertheless, the Worlds stage will be a completely different battlefield where Gumayusi and his teammates cannot afford to perform as they did last Summer if they want to avoid further disappointment.
T1 will still be highly regarded as they step onto a stage that this team has successfully conquered even when expectations were low. And it’s very likely that the champion Varus, his favorite, will play a significant role in helping Gumayusi set a record that matches Bang’s achievements in the history of this successful League of Legends team.
