In the LCK Summer 2022, T1 did not maintain the undefeated streak they had in Spring 2022. Nevertheless, having defeated both direct rivals Gen.G Esports (Gen.G) and DWG KIA (DK), Faker and his teammates remain top contenders for the Summer championship this time. However, the players must minimize their mistakes in the upcoming matches. One of the most concerning positions for T1 is the AD Carry, Gumayusi.

In reality, Gumayusi is still one of the players who has earned the most MVP points in T1’s matches. But that does not deny that he has had several games that put the team in difficult situations. Especially, Gumayusi’s Ezreal has not provided a sense of security for fans.

However, the 2002-born AD Carry remains confident. Recently, in a post-match interview with DRX, Gumayusi stated that he is currently the most skilled Draven player: “Everyone thinks Draven is an unconventional pick and not often chosen. And I believe that no player can match my proficiency (with that champion).”

Additionally, Gumayusi praised the gameplay of Royal Never Give Up (RNG) – the team that defeated T1 at MSI 2022. He noted: “I watch many matches of RNG. And I am most impressed with the AD Carry GALA. I told my teammates that ‘we should also focus on the AD Carry’. However, the team’s reaction was ‘no team plays as well as we do’. I hope my teammates will realize many things after the match with DRX, especially when I get to use Draven.”

Just as Gumayusi mentioned, RNG often tends to distribute power across all three lanes while still focusing most resources on Xiaohu and GALA. The AD Carry GALA is also maximally supported to secure kills and reach power spikes early. Therefore, RNG has faced difficulties when GALA is excessively targeted.

However, T1’s playstyle is quite different from RNG. Furthermore, if Gumayusi wants his teammates to funnel more resources into him, he must demonstrate consistent performance and be able to “carry” the team like GALA has throughout his recent performances.
