Thus, after many years of waiting and numerous failures, Chovy has finally secured his first international title in his career. Long regarded as one of the best Mid Laners in the world in recent years, Chovy has often been seen as “unlucky” whenever he steps onto the international stage. In 2022, 2023, and 2024, they were always considered championship contenders at MSI and Worlds. Yet time and again, Gen.G faced humiliating eliminations. It wasn’t until 2024 that they finally put an end to the heavy burden hanging over the players.

However, in Gen.G’s victory, two names are being discussed a lot. First is Peanut. In the VCS, after Gen.G defeated Top Esports (the first LPL representative that Chovy and his teammates have beaten in years), a controversy erupted surrounding a statement by commentator Văn Tùng suggesting that Canyon was the real signing that Gen.G needed. Yet with this international title, Peanut is still being “mentioned” by several VCS fans along with some jabs directed at “Little Peanut” supporters.

Additionally, another name being brought up is KT Rolster. For those who may not know, KT is the only team that has managed to defeat Gen.G in a BO3/BO5 format since the beginning of the Spring LCK until now. Notably, at that time, KT was not highly regarded, and their ability to “shut down” Gen.G’s unbeaten streak was truly a miracle. However, after Gen.G’s MSI 2024 victory, that achievement has now become KT’s brightest highlight in the first half of 2024. Because KT underperformed in the Spring split and was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

Gen.G has shown how they are at the peak of their game, and this achievement is even more perfect than T1‘s unbeaten run in 2022. Gen.G’s Golden Road has completed 50%, and if they maintain their current form, Chovy and his teammates could very well aim for an unprecedented achievement in professional League of Legends history.
