Entering the final match of the LCK Spring 2023 against T1, Gen.G was not highly rated. Throughout the 2022 World Championship and even after their victory over KT Rolster, Chovy and his teammates had shown a lackluster performance. Furthermore, in both the group stage and the winners’ final, Gen.G lost to T1 convincingly. A straightforward victory for T1 was something many fans and experts had predicted before the final match took place.

However, a miracle happened as Gen.G performed exceptionally well, especially in the position often regarded as a “weak point” – Doran. In the first two games of the BO5 series, it was Doran who successfully shut down Zeus and coordinated excellently with Chovy to obliterate T1 in team fights. Although he stumbled in game 3, he still performed well in game 4.
Additionally, Chovy delivered a fantastic performance, making fans no longer recognize the once “timid” Chovy whenever he entered crucial matches. Moreover, rookie Peyz, in his first LCK final, reassured Gen.G fans as Ruler was no longer in the team. In fact, after game 1, he didn’t die even once.

Witnessing a different Gen.G through Doran’s performance, even the team’s fans couldn’t believe their eyes. On many forums, the majority opinion assessed Doran’s outstanding performance as the foundation that helped Gen.G secure a convincing victory over T1 and successfully defend their championship title.
– “Doran has gone crazy, this must be Looper or CuVee!”
– “This Gen.G is so strange, I can’t recognize them, did Ruler teamview Peyz’s shots?”
– “T1 has once again finished second”
– “Almost undefeated in the group stage, breezing into the finals and losing, T1 is always like this, huh?”
– “Chovy must be very happy, this is his first time winning back-to-back championships and also helping Gen.G qualify for MSI for the first time.”

Gen.G’s victory is completely deserved. However, there is a feeling of regret for T1 as they fought valiantly. It’s just unfortunate that Faker and his teammates once again missed out on the title.
