Gen.G’s Super Record
At present, the LCK Summer 2024 has concluded the group stage, and this weekend, the first two matches of the playoffs will officially take place, featuring two highly anticipated matchups between Dplus KIA – BNK FearX and KT Rolster – T1. These matchups are as expected by the audience, even though the last matches of the group stage just ended on August 18. However, even with all the attention focused on the playoffs, Gen.G – the reigning champion of the LCK has managed to set a new record after easily defeating the formidable opponent Hanwha Life Esports 2-0.

With that 2-0 victory, Gen.G has achieved 35 wins and 3 losses. This figure has broken Gen.G’s own record set during the LCK Summer 2022 (35 wins – 5 losses). This achievement not only breaks the LCK record previously set by Gen.G but also makes the MSI 2024 champion the first team in the four Major regions to achieve a match win rate over 90% in tournaments with a non-BO1 group stage format (92.1%). Gen.G’s achievement also breaks the previous win rate record held by Oh My God at LPL Spring 2014 (89.3%).

But Gen.G’s Journey Ahead is What Matters
At the beginning of 2024, Gen.G completed its roster with new stars like Kiin and Canyon, while welcoming back Lehends. With these pieces, along with Chovy – Peyz, Gen.G has continuously set new achievements, the most notable being the first international title in the careers of Kiin – Chovy – Peyz and Lehends. Additionally, Gen.G is currently rated even higher than JD Gaming last year, and their upcoming goal is to secure the LCK Summer 2024 championship as well as the next Worlds title thereafter.

If they can accomplish both goals, Gen.G will likely ascend to the ranks of one of the greatest League of Legends teams in history. However, if there are any missteps along the way, those statistics and records may just become bittersweet memories.
