Talking about Faker and his influence on the world of League of Legends (LoL), any amount of words is not enough. Not only is he one of the most veteran players still competing, but Faker is undoubtedly one of the most decorated names in the LoL scene. Moreover, he holds many records in LoL, most recently the longest unbeaten streak in the history of Korea’s highest-level tournament – LCK.

However, because of this, the name Faker easily attracts the attention of the LoL community, and every move he makes can stir up the community. Since the Spring Split of 2022 until now, Faker has encountered quite a few troubles with his statements. Nevertheless, Faker remains a name regarded as a guarantee for the attraction of LoL in general and the LCK in particular.

Recently, some statistics have been brought up by the community, again related to Faker. It was discovered that the spotlight match between DWG KIA and Gen.G Esports had lower viewership than the T1 – Liiv SANDBOX match. It should be noted that DK and Gen.G are two teams competing for the championship alongside T1.
Notably, the match with the highest viewership is also a match featuring T1, specifically the confrontation with KT Rolster, with a total of 642,859 views. And all five matches with the highest view counts in the LCK Summer 2022 so far have featured Faker and his T1 teammates.

Right below the post, Gen.G’s CEO Arnold provided his insights: “Faker has always been the greatest, both in terms of LoL expertise and in terms of image business. The LCK organizers and teams should not take this for granted, especially when looking at the opportunity to elevate the tournament to a new level while Faker is still competing and while people still want to watch this tournament.”
Additionally, the CEO issued a warning: “I think all teams (including ourselves), players, and the tournament need to do better in introducing stories about new players, integrating with social media platforms comprehensively. Otherwise, when Faker decides to retire, we will be in danger.”

Indeed, Faker is a name that has left an enormous impact on the world of LoL in general and the LCK tournament in particular. However, Faker’s time is also limited, and in recent seasons, there has been much talk about when Faker will retire. That day, although surely no one would wish for it, is very close, but until now, no one has shown to be strong enough to become a “new Faker” even in terms of professional achievements.
