GAM Surprises Viewers on Prime Time TV but “It’s Quite Strange”
In recent years, Vietnamese Esports, particularly League of Legends (LoL), has become a familiar term in Vietnam. Not only appearing in Riot’s own tournaments, LoL and Esports in general have also made their mark at the SEA Games and ASIAD… gradually becoming a widely recognized sport. In this flow, GAM has become the most famous name in Vietnamese LoL. Recently, the yellow-black team made an unexpected appearance on VTV’s prime time show.

Specifically, in the recent episode 41 of the prime time film A Millimeter Away from You, the character Duc, played by actor Trong Lan, is portrayed as a very talented gamer with a knack for IT, who, with the support of friends, decides to become a professional player.
Surprisingly, the team that this character represents is GAM, and he plays in the Mid Lane position. The scene where Duc is alongside Kiaya, Levi, Artemis, and Elio—familiar players in the Vietnamese LoL scene—defeating TSW attracted attention and delighted the Vietnamese LoL community.

Not Only Proving GAM’s Influence but Also That of Vietnamese Esports
It can be said that Esports in general, and LoL in particular, are gradually gaining recognition and more attention. The prime time film A Millimeter Away from You revolves around the lives of young people, many of whom work for large tech companies related to games and animation. At this moment, it can be said that gaming is gradually breaking the perception of being “just a video game.”

Of course, GAM is the most famous team in Vietnamese LoL, so their appearance in a scene depicting Esports in Vietnam is understandable. The audience also hopes that in the future, more Esports disciplines will be aired, which is a way to bring Esports to many generations of viewers in Vietnam.
