The VCS final was incredibly dramatic between GAM Esports and Vikings Esports. This was not just a showdown for a domestic championship, but also carried significant historical weight. If VK wins, SofM would earn his first domestic title in his career and also make his debut at MSI. Meanwhile, for GAM, it would be a chance for revenge against the team that defeated them in the winners’ bracket. Additionally, GAM would continue to be the most titled champion in the history of League of Legends in Vietnam and represent VCS at MSI 2024.

The result of the match truly divided fans into different opinions. Specifically, GAM won decisively 3-1 against VKE. SofM’s team fought incredibly hard, and despite having previously beaten GAM, VKE was still underestimated. This was because VKE also had a patched-up roster, but except for Kati, Shogun, and SofM, the rest were significantly weaker than GAM. Notably, GAM’s strongest position – Kiaya – was also the weakest point for VKE – Fireblade.

However, GAM’s victory left some fans feeling somewhat dissatisfied. Both teams had too many patched-up players, but VKE suffered more damage as Fireblade had highlights in all four games but couldn’t overshadow Kiaya. Moreover, GAM was aware of VKE’s weaknesses and exploited this position. Therefore, many fans are concerned that GAM may struggle to achieve positive results at MSI, especially with the ongoing match-fixing allegations yet to be resolved.

However, some opinions acknowledge that if VKE goes to MSI 2024, they may not fare any better as Fireblade or TomRio could easily struggle, especially VKE’s young Top Lane. Thus, it can be said that between the two options, GAM is still a more viable choice compared to “SofM and his students”.

GAM’s championship and the yellow-black team’s spot at MSI 2024 are well-deserved. However, GAM must work even harder at MSI 2024 ahead, preparing for all possible worst-case scenarios, especially since no one can be sure if the negative allegations will be resolved before MSI 2024 begins.
