GAM eSports is known as one of the oldest teams in Vietnam, always attracting a large number of sponsors. Now, CMG.ASIA together with NRG Esports has officially announced a partnership to establish NRG.ASIA – a platform for Media and Management of Electronic Sports, representing potential eSports athletes in Southeast Asia. The first team that NRG.ASIA has acquired is the champion GAM eSports Vietnam.

Founded by Randy Dobson in 2007, for over a decade, CMG.ASIA has established, managed, and invested in successful lifestyle brands in the Southeast Asia region. The CMG.ASIA group has extensive experience and a track record of building and successfully managing businesses in various sectors such as technology, fitness, beauty, health, sports & entertainment, including the chain of gyms – California Fitness & Yoga, Centuryon Gyms, UFC Gym, Yoga Plus, Eri International Clinics…
In addition to its history of successfully building the aforementioned brands, CMG.ASIA has been supporting & fostering the development of potential startup companies such as: Hello Health Group, RED2 Digital, Yeah1CMG, LEEP.App & M.O.I Cosmetics Vietnam. Currently, the CMG.ASIA group is investing in and developing companies in fields such as AI & eSports, cosmetics & fitness applications. Evaluating Southeast Asia as a potential market, CMG.ASIA decided to invest in NRG Esports since 2019, primarily focusing on bringing NRG’s strategy to Asia.

NRG was established in 2015, headquartered in Los Angeles, California. This is a professional eSports and entertainment organization known for the success of its Call of Duty team or its championship teams in Rocket League, Overwatch (the San Francisco Shock team).
The successful introduction of the NRG brand to Vietnam is a collaboration between two “tycoons” Randy Dobson – Chairman of CMG.ASIA and Mark Mastrov – founder of 24-Hour Fitness & NRG eSports. Co-founder and CEO of NRG, Andy Miller also shared insights about the strategic partnership and entry into the Vietnamese market:
“Esports in Southeast Asia is a great passion of ours, with Vietnam being the perfect country to kick off NRG’s global expansion. For us, NRG Asia, TK and Dru Nguyen are the best partners to start growing in Vietnam.”
The Nguyen brothers, TK (Anthony) and Dru (Andrew), are Managing Partners responsible for overseeing the franchise expansion of NRG across the region. TK Nguyen serves as the CEO of NRG Vietnam while Dru Nguyen holds the position of COO. Speaking at the strategy launch event, TK Nguyen, CEO of NRG Asia stated: “With NRG’s expansion in the promising Southeast Asian market, starting in Vietnam, our goal is to turn GAM into a world champion by providing players with support from industry-leading experts. Additionally, working with an outstanding leader like Andy Miller, who has successfully created many world championship teams, is truly exciting for me, my colleagues, and the gamers. We can’t wait to bring home a world championship and make the gamers and the Vietnamese eSports community proud.”
True to the motto “Be Legendary”, NRG Vietnam is having a perfect start by owning GAM Esports, the champion of VCS Spring 2021 in League of Legends. Not only does it have an impressive track record with five championships in Vietnam, GAM also had a breakthrough performance at the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2017, becoming a major media sensation on the international stage.

Levi – Captain of GAM eSports stated: “The fact that a large and reputable eSports organization like NRG Asia has completed the acquisition of GAM is a clear testament to the VCS tournament’s ability to impress foreign investors. I hope this will be a springboard for the tournament to continue to develop and attract more investors into this promising field, as well as to create opportunities for GAM to compete and grow in international tournaments.”
