GAM’s defeat against TSW once again exposed the weaknesses of this team
Recently, in a match against Team SecretWhales, the reigning VCS champion – GAM Esports faced another defeat. Notably, in both “VCS internal battles” against fellow representatives from League of Legends Vietnam, GAM suffered total losses with a score of 0-2. In both matches, the yellow and black team performed surprisingly weak, even in positions expected to “carry the team” like Levi, Kiaya, or Artemis.

According to many VCS fans, the reality of GAM’s loss is not surprising, and the reason remains the same: too dependent on Kiaya – Levi. On days when this duo cannot shine (due to their own performance or being countered by opponents), GAM immediately becomes stagnant. Notably, GAM is willing to “sacrifice” other players to give Kiaya – Levi the best options.

Even Aress – a player accustomed to the Mid Lane marksman playstyle had to switch to tank champions or make plays outside of his comfort zone. Artemis also had to concede resources to Kiaya. Moreover, GAM also made some rather confusing bans and picks.
For example, in game 2 against TSW recently, GAM opted for a composition with a “Hyper Carry” trend. However, Zeri is not a strong champion in fights without items. In the early to mid-game, GAM had almost no damage and faced Xin Zhao, whose skill set reduces damage, making GAM’s champions almost harmless in fights.

GAM May Continue to “Struggle” with the Current Playstyle
Kiaya remains one of the best Top Lane players in VCS today, and Levi’s experience is undeniable. But both are human and making mistakes or experiencing a drop in performance is understandable. The issue is that GAM is still not ready to change their playstyle.

Therefore, reading GAM’s strategy has become too easy. Of course, it could also be that this match was just a “formal” one, so GAM did not emphasize the outcome. But clearly, if they continue to pursue the singular playstyle centered around Kiaya – Levi as they currently do, the likelihood of GAM having to “pay the price” when entering the playoffs is very high, especially when they no longer have the chance to redeem themselves.
