Thus, GAM Esports has officially ended their journey at MSI 2024. For the Vietnamese League of Legends community, this outcome was entirely predictable. GAM entered this year’s MSI with the anxiety and skepticism of both the local and global audience. The roster they brought to the tournament was very patchy and arguably one of the weakest in the history of this team. Moreover, the selected players lacked international competition experience. Before being promoted to the main roster of GAM, the two key positions – Mid Lane (Emo) and ADC (JackeyLove) – included one frequent substitute and the other from a team at the bottom of the standings.

However, the reason why EasyLove, from a top 8 team with no wins, joined GAM or why Emo had to be promoted from the bench to play in the Spring 2024 playoffs is what deserves attention. As we know, the VCS organizers and Riot have announced a list of 32 individuals from all 8 teams currently competing in the VCS who are under additional investigation for match-fixing allegations. Notably, many of these players are irreplaceable in their teams. Therefore, promoting Emo or recruiting EasyLove was merely a desperate temporary solution for GAM.

After this team left MSI 2024, of course, the VCS audience still cares about the ongoing tournament, but one question has started to be discussed: When will the VCS organizers and Riot officially announce the list of individuals truly responsible for the match-fixing scandal and the penalties that will be applied? Because after MSI 2024 concludes, teams will need to start preparing for the Summer Split. If the list is announced at that time, it may be somewhat late and could put teams in a difficult position regarding personnel arrangements for the new season.

Moreover, at this moment, the VCS audience also needs a clear answer to start looking towards a new future with a clean tournament, free from the haunting shadows of negativity. The reconstruction process may take a great deal of time and effort from all teams. Therefore, the VCS organizers and Riot may need to provide the final investigation results soon to satisfy the expectations of the Vietnamese League of Legends community.
