G2 Faces Backlash for Using T1 as ‘Content’
As of now, the five teams participating in First Stand 2025 have officially been confirmed: HLE (LCK), TES (LPL), TL (LTA), CFO (LCP), and KC (LEC). Among them, the most surprising name is KC, as this team convincingly defeated G2 with a score of 3-0 in the Grand Finals. This result means G2 will join T1 in watching First Stand 2025 from home after failing to secure the regional championship.

What’s noteworthy is that after the match, G2 made a “content creation blunder” by using T1 as an excuse for their defeat. Specifically, G2’s X account posted the result of their 0-3 loss to KC along with the status: “T1 is not participating in First Stand, so we decided to skip this tournament as well”. It was hoped that this joke from G2 would lighten the weight of the loss, but it instead sparked outrage among many fans who criticized the team.

It’s important to note that in the recent match, G2 was completely outplayed by KC in terms of both game control and individual plays. Notably, Caps made many personal errors in this game, despite being considered one of the top talents in the LEC. This defeat hit G2 even harder given that their former jungler – Yike – played exceptionally well to help KC secure the victory. Perhaps due to this reason, the somewhat unserious status that used T1 as an excuse left fans feeling quite upset.

Both T1 and G2 Need to Bounce Back Soon
Fairly speaking, the absence of both T1 and G2 from First Stand 2025 indicates that they are facing significant issues. For T1, the ongoing “drama” surrounding Smash is creating the impression that the internal dynamics of this team are anything but stable. This issue likely needs to be resolved quickly to help the reigning World Champions stabilize internally so T1 can think about competing in the LCK.

Meanwhile, G2 is facing significant issues with key players like Caps and Hans Sama no longer maintaining consistent performance. It’s essential to recognize that the LEC is no longer G2’s exclusive playground, as emerging names like KC and MKOI boast outstanding individuals. Meanwhile, FNC continues to maintain a quality roster to compete fairly with G2 in this region. If the key players continue to perform poorly as they have recently, it wouldn’t be surprising if G2 continues to miss out on the remaining LEC titles for the 2025 season.
