Former World Champion’s “Harsh” Remarks on His Home Region
Recently, the ASI 2025 tournament came to an end. This is a new tournament that emerged this year and has not received much investment in terms of infrastructure, prize money, or quality compared to MSI, EWC, or the World Championship. However, according to many viewers and experts, the tournament somewhat showcased the performances of teams from various regions in the post-season phase after domestic leagues concluded. But Doinb – the 2019 World Champion and participant in ASI 2025, has a much more negative view.
Accordingly, Doinb commented on the LCK and LPL teams participating in ASI 2025: “Not to mention the skill level, but the LCK plays like a real team, and that is fundamental in sports. Meanwhile, the LPL players seem to be ‘each going their own way’, not listening to teammates, just playing their own game. The funny thing is, this tournament is organized by three Chinese livestreaming platforms, and in the finals, it’s just LCK teams battling each other. So why not use the sponsorship money to support LPL teams instead?”
In fact, despite being the “host” tournament, the LPL teams have caused immense disappointment for fans. For example, JDG lost to GAM 0-2, and Doinb’s own NIP only managed to defeat MVKE thanks to a “connection error”. Among all LPL teams participating, only WBG showed a desire to win the cup. However, with their determination clearly lacking compared to LCK teams, it is understandable that LPL was completely eliminated from a tournament hosted in their own region.
LPL at the 2025 World Championship is Causing Concerns Among Fans
Except for BLG, the other three LPL teams raise some concerns. AL seems to have come back to reality after EWC 2025 and they only made it to the World Championship thanks to a ticket indirectly provided by BLG. Meanwhile, TES and IG are not highly regarded either. IG is even at risk of being eliminated early as they face T1 in the Play-in match.
And LPL fans themselves cannot imagine how tense their region will be if they experience another World Championship without any wins.
