Former World Champion Comments on Gen.G’s Situation
It can be said that it has been a long time since the League of Legends community has witnessed a Gen.G as unstable as it is now. In fact, Gen.G has shown a lack of stability since the First Stand 2026 phase. However, at that time, many people reassured themselves that Gen.G did not need to take this tournament too seriously and that they were still “the kings of LCK.” Nevertheless, subsequent events involving Ruler have further plunged Gen.G and their fans into a “crisis.” The former world champion BeryL recently shared his thoughts on the situation of the reigning LCK champions.

Accordingly, BeryL commented: “Actually, this situation is hard for me to clarify. But I feel that once you step into competition, external factors will definitely have certain impacts. After all, we are all human, and as humans, it’s impossible not to pay attention to the outside noise. Therefore, I think this influence comes from external factors, or you could call it a form of psychological pressure.”
BeryL’s remarks do not directly mention it, but League of Legends audiences know he is referring to Ruler’s situation. Clearly, Gen.G is in a “dilemma” as they not only face pressure from public opinion but also cannot replace Ruler at this moment.

But what Gen.G needs to change is not just Ruler
In terms of gameplay, GEN has long been dubbed the “formula team.” They operate extremely well in pre-programmed scenarios but are very inflexible when faced with variables. In the current patch – which emphasizes laning ability and unpredictable situations, GEN clearly shows their weaknesses. A typical example is the match against DK, where the opponent started a “chaotic” playstyle, and Gen.G was also swept along. The only difference is that DK’s “chaos” was intentional, while Gen.G’s was passive.

Perhaps, not just Ruler, but the entire Gen.G roster needs to take a hard look at themselves.
