The biggest changes of TFT Season 17 reshape the entire traditional gameplay
The champion system of TFT Season 17
Of course, every season of TFT will retain some old elements, especially the traits and origins. In fact, there have been many seasons where Riot has been criticized by the community for being “lazy” to the extent that they only changed the names of the traits without altering the mechanics. However, in the newly launched TFT Season 17, many champions that seem familiar yet strange have returned in the form of new traits with new mechanics. Notably, there’s the Time Warp that allows players to “hack” experience, or the Ancient Trait that resembles last season’s Yordle but is easier to activate, enabling players to easily “golden their team composition.”

The outcome is entirely in the hands of the players
In previous seasons, players had to rely quite a bit on luck – a factor that once made TFT known as “luck-based chess” – but in TFT Season 17, player choices will be particularly important. There’s still a “luck” mechanism since players must choose one of two options in the “shop” rounds, but in the new season, players will no longer have to compete against each other. From here, players will have to carefully consider their choices because every wrong decision can impact the entire subsequent match.

The Divine Realm mechanism
Among all the changes in the new season, the Divine Realm mechanism is the most crucial element. Not only does it replace the Common Selection round (also known as the “shop” round), but the Divine Realm is also the key mechanism that determines what rewards or support players will receive to operate their team composition in that match.

This is also the mechanism that provides players with more autonomy, forcing gamers to apply their skills and knowledge more than before, where they had to compete with other players or rely on luck.
