In just a short time, ASIAD will officially kick off, and this event is highly anticipated by the Esports community in general and League of Legends in particular. This ASIAD will be a very important and significant milestone for Esports as it marks the first time the discipline is competing for official medals. However, things are not as simple as they seem, and the global Esports community is worried.

According to revelations from commentator San – a figure participating in training for coverage at ASIAD, the upcoming tournament will have very stringent regulations for Esports. As previously mentioned, there is information indicating that terms from football will be applied to Esports in general and fighting games (like League of Legends) in particular. Words like “kill” will not be suitable for a traditional sports festival.

However, according to BLV San, the regulations that may be applied at ASIAD could be even more challenging. He revealed some details: “Blood cannot be mentioned during match commentary. Nicknames for champions cannot be used. Players must be referred to by their real names. Each kill will be called a score. And the Organizing Committee will immediately request clarification if any of these regulations are inadvertently violated.”

If BLV San’s revelations become reality, audiences will have to say goodbye to familiar names like Faker, Chovy, Levi… at the upcoming ASIAD tournament. Instead, players will be called by their real names: Lee Sang-hyeok (Faker), Đỗ Duy Khánh (Levi)… Additionally, many League of Legends fans have expressed their concerns and believe that one must be very careful to avoid making mistakes according to ASIAD’s regulations.

Of course, participating in the Asian Games – the largest official sports event in Asia, Esports must “adapt to local customs”. However, many fans still hope that in future events, the regulations will be studied to better fit the unique characteristics of Esports in general and fighting games in particular.
