Faker points out the most important thing to maintain passion as a League of Legends pro
Faker shared: “The most important thing is passion. (Even now) I still find League of Legends very interesting and I want to play better. However, I also hope that teams and organizations can pay attention to the mental and physical health of players. Even if you have enthusiasm, if your health and fitness can’t keep up, it will be hard to sustain a long career.”
So far, Faker is one of the longest-playing professionals in League of Legends. However, when it comes to influence and success, if Faker is number 2, then no one is number 1. He is indeed the “G.O.A.T of the League of Legends scene.”

However, what many people often wonder is what Faker has done or where he draws motivation from to sustain such a long career. Typically, players who have reached such great heights like Faker and are also older would choose to retire, but the “Demon King” continues to compete year after year. It can be said that it requires persistent effort to achieve such a feat. Not to mention, Faker is also dealing with a lingering injury.
According to Faker, support measures primarily lie within the individual player, and not many teams have specialized teams to handle these tasks. For instance, Faker’s injury was only discovered when it had worsened, and he had to seek examination himself.

Meanwhile, T1 is one of the few teams that publicly has teams to provide psychological counseling for players. Additionally, in the past, T1 even hired a Yoga coach for Faker to improve his fitness.
Faker’s Ambition
“If given the opportunity, I would really like to participate in ASIAD 2026. But I would only do that if everyone wants it, especially the fans,” Faker shared. He understands that the Korean League of Legends team, if participating in ASIAD, definitely wouldn’t be there just for fun and needs to maintain strength to achieve the highest results.
In fact, by the time ASIAD 2026 rolls around, Faker will be 30 years old, and if he participates, he could become the oldest Esports player in this arena – a record that would be very hard to break for the “Demon King.”

But as Faker emphasized, the team must have the best roster to compete for the title. Therefore, Faker will have to choose the best ways for the team, just as he has done for all these years.
