Entering the great battle against Gen.G Esports (Gen.G) on July 8th (Vietnam time), T1’s chances of victory were not highly regarded by experts as they were during Spring 2022. The reason is that Faker and his teammates have had some not-so-good matches recently. Furthermore, they had just lost to Kwangdong Freecs (KDF) – an opponent that could be considered quite weak in this Summer LCK.

However, the reality of the match turned out to be quite different from expert predictions. Although T1 lost to Gen.G in game 1, everything changed 180 degrees afterward. Faker and his teammates rallied and won 2 games, thereby clinching the overall victory with a score of 2-1. In these two games, game 3 clearly demonstrated the resilience of Faker and his teammates. They faced adversity multiple times but won every team fight against Gen.G.
Additionally, with 2 victories over Gen.G, Faker has continued to create another milestone in both his career and the history of the LCK. Accordingly, Faker becomes the first player in the history of the highest-level League of Legends (LoL) tournament in Korea to achieve 500 game wins. At the same time, Faker also holds a substantial lead over the second-place marksman Deft from DRX, who has only 371 wins in his career, specifically in the LCK.

Besides Faker’s record, the League of Legends community also praised the T1 players after their victory over a direct competitor for the LCK Summer 2022 championship, Gen.G. This victory also dispelled any doubts about the players’ performance following their earlier defeat to KDF.

– “Zeus is truly the best top laner in the LCK right now, no doubt about it.”
– “Oner’s performance made Lee Sin look like an incredibly strong champion.”
– “They entered a 4v5 team fight and still won, I can’t comprehend what’s happening anymore.”
– “How did T1 win that Baron fight?”
Nonetheless, the journey for both T1 and Gen.G in the LCK Summer 2022 is still only about halfway through. Both teams face many challenges ahead, and furthermore, they still have a rematch to determine the outcome. However, it can be said that at this moment, Faker and his teammates remain the top contenders for the championship this Summer.
