Throughout his nearly complete career in professional League of Legends, Faker has been known as a player who maintains a professional and very proper attitude towards everyone he interacts with. From fans to colleagues, opponents, and various professionals in the esports scene (hosts, reporters, commentators…), Faker has kept a respectful demeanor. However, recently, Faker had one of the rare occasions where he had to implicitly “warn” the media regarding the information provided about his condition.

Specifically, right after the recent victory over Dplus KIA, Faker shared his thoughts regarding his injury. One of his statements drew more attention than usual, directed towards the media: “My arm has not fully recovered, but I am managing it. All I want to say is that I need to take care of myself. I don’t want the media to know about this. In the end, I just want to say that I am still working hard and performing well. That’s what I want to share.”
In fact, recently, Faker has occasionally had issues with the media due to being “misquoted,” which has affected both him and T1 significantly. The peak of this was during the DDoS incident in Spring 2024. At that time, Faker went for an interview after the loss to Hanwha Life Esports and shared about the DDoS attacks that were causing problems for T1. However, issues with translation and reporting led to him and T1 being criticized by some fans for allegedly denying HLE’s victory and searching for excuses to rationalize their defeat.

As a player who has competed long enough to know what he needs to do, Faker always maintains the most moderate and professional attitude possible in everything. However, even so, Faker still encounters troubles. His need to speak out is unfortunate but necessary to prevent both himself and T1 from suffering impacts, especially when every word from Faker is under special scrutiny.
