Just a few hours ago, the prestigious awards at The Game Awards 2023 officially announced their winners. Accordingly, Faker won the “Best Esports Player” category. To win this award, the “Demon King” surpassed a host of renowned names such as Ruler, Demon1 (VALORANT), Zywoo (CS:GO), HyDra (Call of Duty), and ImperialHal (Apex Legends).

Not only Faker, but Riot Games also had a big win at The Game Awards 2023 by continuously taking home important awards. First, VALORANT was named the “Best Esports Game”. Following that, the 2023 World Championship also won the award for “Best Esports Tournament”. Although JD Gaming could not win the 2023 World Championship, they were consoled with the title of “Best Esports Team”. Additionally, Evil Geniuses VALORANT coach Potter won the award for “Best Esports Coach”.

As for Faker, winning the “Best Esports Player” award this year also helped the “Demon King” set a new record. Specifically, Faker is the first esports player to win this award twice in the history of The Game Awards. Previously, in 2017, the “Demon King” also won in the same category.

This is a well-deserved recognition for Faker’s tireless efforts in 2023. It should be noted that Faker was once injured to the point of needing to take a break from competition, but he returned stronger than ever. The rewards have come to Faker as he secured a gold medal at the Asian Games and the title of World Champion at the 2023 World Championship.

The victory at The Game Awards this year has added another prestigious title to Faker’s illustrious career. With T1 continuing to maintain their World Championship-winning roster, they are surely aiming for more titles in the upcoming season. If they succeed in this, it would not be surprising for the “Demon King” to win the title of “Best Esports Player” at The Game Awards next year.
