2023 World Championship Champions, Fans Discover T1’s Unbelievable Achievement

Perhaps apart from T1, no other team can achieve this record.

If we had to mention one of the most surprising results in the League of Legends scene in 2023, it would undoubtedly be T1’s journey to winning the World Championship 2023. No one could have imagined that a team that was heavily doubted until after their first match in the Swiss round could be the last remaining LCK representative in the tournament and then win in a swift match. It can be said that T1’s journey in 2023 deserves to be called a “Miraculous Journey.”

However, with the 2023 World Championship, T1 inadvertently set a record that perhaps no other team can achieve. Accordingly, T1 has become the only team in the current League of Legends scene that has more world championship titles than their LCK Summer titles. Notably, the Summer tournament is the one that determines the teams participating in the World Championship immediately after. At the same time, this tournament also accurately evaluates which teams can win the World Championship, but T1 seems to be an exception.

Accordingly, SKT T1/T1 won the World Championship in the years 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2023. However, they only won the LCK Summer in 2013, 2015, and 2019. Notably, T1 also won the World Championship in the same years (2013 and 2015). But they unfortunately stopped short against G2 Esports in 2019. Additionally, 2013 was the year when the LCK tournament was not yet fully developed. This also means that T1 is a powerhouse in Spring but often loses form in Summer.

Notably, right after their failed LCK Summer campaigns, T1 still managed to win the World Championship (as in 2016 and 2023). In particular, the T1 of 2016 even fell to the third seed of the tournament. The years 2016 and 2023 are also the two times when SKT T1/T1 faced the most skepticism when participating in the World Championship. However, also in 2016, SKT T1 became the first and only team in the League of Legends scene to successfully defend their World Championship title.

Faker and his teammates are not only special in their titles or playstyle, but they have achieved many unprecedented milestones. Soon, T1 will begin the new season as the “new champions of the League of Legends scene.” Many fans still hope that T1 will win even more to set immortal milestones in the League of Legends and Esports in general.
