On Sunday, May 22, the Esports competitions concluded at SEA Games 31 with gold medals for Counter-Strike and League of Legends. Meanwhile, the game Arena of Valor secured a silver medal. Overall, this can be seen as a successful SEA Games for Vietnamese Esports, contributing significantly to the national achievements and affirming the position of Vietnamese Esports in Southeast Asia.

Recently, 19 Esports athletes brought medals to the Vietnamese sports delegation at SEA Games 31. Alongside the medals and individual rewards, they were collectively listed among the 305 outstanding athletes at the tournament and had the honor of receiving certificates of merit from the Prime Minister.
This is truly a recognition and reward that Esports athletes have long awaited. Unlike other sports, Esports is still not regarded as a formal sport. Therefore, the Prime Minister’s certificates serve as a recognition for the athletes and Vietnamese Esports teams.

The Prime Minister’s awarding of certificates of merit to outstanding Esports athletes at SEA Games 31 not only brings joy and pride to the athletes themselves but also greatly excites the Vietnamese Esports community. This is because Esports now has more influence and is more widely recognized than before, especially among older generations – a demographic that has been difficult to reach and understand Esports.

Currently, while SEA Games 31 has concluded, the echoes of this event remain vivid. It is not only the SEA Games held right in Vietnam but also a remarkably successful one, especially for Vietnamese Esports, not only in terms of achievements but also in gaining recognition from a wide audience in Vietnam.
