This is the first time an Esports tournament for League of Legends organized by FPT Software and Garena is held for the IT community, aimed at providing an additional entertainment method and interaction for IT professionals during remote work periods.
The tournament is aimed at those working in the Information Technology field with at least 1 year of experience, who are not professional players (currently competing in Series A of League of Legends).
IT Championship has a total prize pool of up to 150 million VND, including over 60 tech product sets and cash prizes. The tournament is expected to attract 1,000 participants in teams of 5 or individuals from September 21, 2021 – October 6, 2021.
Competing teams and players will vie for the First, Second, Third, and Encouragement prizes according to three official competition formats: The Solo King, King of Aram, IT Championship All Stars, and the supplementary Highlight Moments prize.
Speaking about organizing the tournament, a representative from FPT Software stated: “During the time working from home, technology professionals have proven to be the backbone, the bridge for all activities from working, studying to communication between people in the new normal state. However, technology professionals themselves face many pressures. We organize the IT Championship tournament, hoping to provide a time for relaxation, stress relief, and increased connectivity for the entire Vietnamese IT community.”
Within the framework of the tournament, the audience can also participate in side events such as TrashTalk, predicting the winning team, answering Minigame questions, and watching live matches… on FPT Software’s official Facebook page. Attendees have the chance to receive many attractive gifts, including tech products and nearly 200 phone cards.
The tournament will update information and stream official matches live on the official Facebook page of FPT Software. Interested viewers can register to participate in the tournament at: REGISTRATION LINK
League of Legends is a popular team strategy game with over 115 million monthly users worldwide. A 2019 statistic from the reputable gaming site vn.op.gg indicated that the online gaming platform has over 2.8 million accounts from Vietnam. The game boosts confidence and is a source of inspiration for many programmers (according to a 2016 study by Western Michigan University). Team-based video games are also favored by the tech community as they enhance problem-solving skills, improve analytical thinking and focus, as well as foster teamwork, similar to the skills necessary in programming.
