After a glorious victory against GAM Esports, CERBERUS Esports has officially crowned itself the champion of VCS Winter 2021. This is also the first VCS championship in the history of the team nicknamed “The Celestial Dog.” Until the second round of the VCS Winter 2021 group stage, CES was still considered a “nervous team” when entering the second round and playoffs. In fact, there was a time they won like “cutting bamboo” in the first round and then “face-planted” in the second round. Therefore, this VCS Winter 2021 championship holds even more significance.
One of the factors that can be said to have completely changed the face of CES, helping “The Celestial Dog” break the curse when entering the second round and the VCS Winter playoffs, is EGO. The former jungler of Team Flash can be considered the most impactful change at CES. Remember, until the VCS Spring 2021, CES had not shown anything in the playoffs and only finished fourth, while EGO was recovering from an injury. After the “SofM disciple” returned, he and “The Celestial Dog” swept through the VCS region and brought home the first championship in the history of this team.
Right after the glorious victory, the first person EGO credited was SofM. Not surprisingly, as a “hardcore fan” of the “Vietnamese Jungle God,” EGO did not hesitate to declare that today’s success was “thanks to Duy’s guidance and support.” SofM himself was also delighted for his junior and sent congratulations to the CES team.
However, what excited the VCS community was SofM’s comment under his own post. It is unclear if some fans brought up EGO’s trash talk, which prompted SofM to clarify that he did not teach his junior any “silly moves.” Additionally, SofM also stated that when VCS players text him for advice, he always provides detailed guidance, but only EGO is the one who is “overly affectionate” with his senior.
Regardless, EGO and CES have had a tremendously successful season. The former jungler of Team Flash now has his second VCS championship in his career. The only regret for EGO is that he has not participated in any international tournaments after his championship wins. However, if he continues to perform well as he is now, EGO and CES will still be strong contenders for the VCS Spring 2022 championship. If they win the cup again, it is very likely that he will join “The Celestial Dog” at MSI 2022 and reunite with his close senior – Lê “SofM” Quang Duy.
