Perhaps in the minds of many viewers following the LCK tournament, this summer’s title race is limited to the three names T1, DK, and Gen.G. T1 and Gen.G have maintained an extremely strong roster and have performed very consistently since the Spring tournament. Meanwhile, DK, with the timely addition of superstar Nuguri, has also shown a very high level of determination to compete.

However, after two weeks of play in the LCK Summer 2022, we must add another name, DRX, to the list of championship contenders. The reason is that this team has had an incredibly strong start with 4 consecutive wins and shares the top ranking position with T1 and Gen.G. In fact, in an interview with the Korean news site Inven, DRX’s ADC – Deft confirmed that they can beat all three aforementioned giants in the near future.

Question: In the upcoming match, you’ll face LSB, a very tricky team. Do you think your winning streak will continue?
DRX Deft: The other day, I checked the schedule and realized that after the match with LSB, we still have to face T1, DK, and Gen.G. We can beat all three of these teams in the near future and maintain our current winning streak.
If you have been following DRX’s performance recently, you can see that their top lane has performed much better compared to the Spring season. Kingen has shown much more stability and has stopped making overly risky plays. Additionally, the synergy between Kingen and Pyosik has also improved significantly, helping to mitigate DRX’s weaknesses.

However, we cannot conclude that DRX has emerged as a serious title challenger since their four recent wins have all been against weaker opponents. The upcoming match against LSB and the showdown with T1 this weekend will be significant tests for DRX. If they can overcome these challenges, it will be very likely for DRX to take sole possession of the top spot in the LCK Summer 2022 standings.
