Recently, South Korean media released some statistics about Mid Laners after about 3 weeks of competition in LCK Summer 2022. Although these are not the final figures, these stats give viewers the most comprehensive view of the gameplay and playstyles of the current LCK teams. The most notable names remain Faker, ShowMaker, and Chovy.

Accordingly, among the two Mid Laners considered the future of League of Legends in South Korea, Chovy demonstrates a more comprehensive performance. In virtually any statistic, he shows superiority, not just over ShowMaker but over the rest of the tournament.
Although he does not overly indulge in 1v1 duels with opponents, Chovy ranks at least in the top 3 in all categories. Additionally, Chovy holds the highest KDA among Mid Laners currently in LCK Summer 2022.

As for ShowMaker, he falls significantly behind his colleague from Gen.G Esports. With a limited use of high-damage champions and DWG KIA’s playstyle not being as dominant as before, ShowMaker’s stats are merely average compared to the overall level of the tournament.

However, the most notable case is Faker, as he appears to be one of the Mid Laners with the worst stats in LCK Summer 2022. In all metrics, Faker is almost always at the lowest levels.
Notably, Faker’s kill participation is the lowest among all Mid Laners playing in LCK Summer 2022. Furthermore, his gold difference after 15 minutes is also very low, if not negligible.

Explaining this, as Faker mentioned in an interview with Kikunews, the current T1’s gameplay prioritizes the flexibility of all five players. Moreover, for a long time, Faker has played more of a playmaker role rather than being a player who delivers extraordinary plays to dominate opponents. Thus, it’s not surprising for many to find Faker’s stats to be low.

And as long as this style of T1 remains effective, perhaps viewers don’t need to see Faker posting outstanding stats compared to other younger colleagues. What matters is that Faker and T1 continue to dominate the tournament, winning titles, and for the team’s fans, that is more than enough.
