Doinb’s Ups and Downs
The year 2024 can be considered a tumultuous time for the former 2019 World Champion – Doinb. After the incident involving the streaming platform Douyu, he was reported to have taken his family back to South Korea to “escape the chaos.” However, after a period of being “off the grid,” Doinb returned to social media and even joined the coaching staff of Ultra Prime.

Nevertheless, according to Doinb’s “home base” – Umi, he will not stop at becoming a coach. Specifically, during a recent livestream, Umi titled the session “Waiting for Him (Doinb) to Return.” In fact, when answering fans’ questions, Umi confirmed that the former 2019 World Champion is very serious about this comeback in the upcoming 2025 season.

“Home Base” Umi Confirms Doinb Will Return to Compete
“He is really serious about this return to professional play. Doinb has been training very hard to improve his skills and has participated in many scrims. I fully support him, and his goal for this comeback is to seek glory, not money. Honestly, my husband is nearly 30 years old now; if he doesn’t make an effort at this time, there won’t be any more opportunities in the future,” Umi stated, confirming that Doinb will return to professional play when responding to fans.

A few days ago, fans also discovered that Doinb has returned to “tryhard” in League of Legends on the Korean server. In fact, the 2019 World Champion even climbed to the Challenger rank quite easily, even while facing other professional players. This effort from Doinb shows that he still has the skills to compete at the highest level like the LPL. Of course, the LPL Summer 2024 has now reached the playoffs, so Doinb’s opportunities can only arise in the upcoming 2025 season.

LPL Will Benefit Greatly from Doinb’s Return
The 2024 season has been relatively disappointing for LPL fans so far. First, the viewership numbers for the LPL tournament have dropped significantly in both the spring and summer splits. Moreover, the failure of teams like BLG and TES at MSI 2024, held right in their “home turf,” has further diminished the confidence of the fans in this region.

Therefore, the return of a renowned player like Doinb is essential for the LPL in the upcoming season. Even if Doinb doesn’t achieve great results, his popularity will attract a certain audience and help the LPL grow compared to the 2024 season. Additionally, Doinb could create a positive media effect and increase foreign viewers’ interest in the LPL.

Fairly speaking, Doinb has also been away from competitive play for a considerable time, so fans cannot be certain that he will succeed upon his return. Furthermore, his next career destination is still unclear. However, Doinb’s presence will at least help the LPL attract more viewers and bring a fresh breeze to the tournament. Hopefully, Doinb’s efforts for this comeback will be rewarded in the upcoming 2025 season.
