As previously noted, not long ago, Riot released Aurora, and recently, this champion has been increasingly utilized in various major and minor League of Legends tournaments worldwide.
Aurora’s usual position in League of Legends is Mid Lane Mage, but this champion can also be pushed to Top Lane in certain circumstances. Its strong crowd control abilities, capacity to isolate enemy carries, and quick burst damage are some of Aurora’s strengths. Not to mention, the “bunny girl” also has an invisibility skill that helps her avoid all damage and approach enemies without needing to use Flash, which is a significant advantage in team fights.

However, according to announcements from the LEC community and from the player Legolas (currently competing at Barca Esports in the EMEA (the second-tier tournament of the LEC region)), Aurora will be banned from the remaining matches of this League of Legends tournament.
The reason given is that Aurora’s skill set negatively impacts the chronobreak mechanism (pausing the game when an incident occurs). This is a fixed mechanism in the organization of professional tournaments to ensure the rights of teams. Therefore, this champion will disappear, at least from the EMEA Master 2024 and the remaining matches of the LEC Summer 2024.

However, “chronobreak” is a mechanism used in all League of Legends tournaments. As of now, matches in major regions like LCK or LPL have not recorded any instance requiring the use of the “chronobreak” right in matches with Aurora. But with EMEA Master 2024’s movement, it seems Riot will have to consider carefully moving forward. Currently, some tournaments are nearing the completion of their playoffs, but the 2024 World Championship – a tournament that holds even greater importance – is still ahead. If Riot does not make adjustments, it is possible that Aurora could permanently vanish from the professional arena in the future.

Perhaps, Riot must consider very carefully. Aurora is a very strong champion at the moment, even being regarded as a “200-year” champion due to her mobile skill set, difficulty in being taken down, and strong area control. But if Aurora affects professional matches, this champion needs to be adjusted as soon as possible.
