In recent years, alongside the growth and popularity of CS:GO, more and more young talents have emerged and caught attention in the professional arena. A common trait of these talents is their exceptional individual skill with outstanding aiming abilities, and even though they lack the extensive competitive experience of their older counterparts, they compensate with superb game sense. Many names have made their mark in recent years, such as ZywOo, frozen, Ropz, oBo,… and one very prominent name is Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, the 15-year-old star currently playing for Na`Vi Junior and hailed as the bright gem of the CIS CS scene.

Born and raised in Russia, a region with a developed CS scene, m0NESY was exposed to CS from a very young age and started playing CS 1.6 at just 6 years old. By the age of 9, he switched to CS:GO and took only a year to reach Global Elite, the highest rank in CS:GO’s matchmaking system. Not stopping there, he began playing FACEIT and once again amazed many by reaching level 10 in just 150 matches, achieving an elo of 3,800. “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration,” a quote from inventor Thomas Edison perfectly describes m0NESY’s case, as his Steam account now boasts nearly 9,900 hours of in-game time in CS:GO, averaging over 50 hours a week dedicated to the game.
Another interesting fact about this young talent is that before diving into CS:GO, m0NESY had over 3,000 hours of Dota 2 gameplay; however, he later gave it up to pursue a professional career after being introduced to CS by his older brother.
At the beginning of 2020, m0NESY officially joined the ranks of Na`Vi Junior, a project by Na`Vi aimed at honing and developing talents from the CIS region. At that time, not many people were familiar with the name m0NESY, but by March 2020, he received an invitation to compete in FPL, the highest level of FaceIT where the world’s top stars compete and practice. m0NESY is one of the youngest players to compete in FPL, placing him alongside stars playing for top teams worldwide like Ropz, frozen, ZywOo, oBo,…
Talent is, of course, highly valuable, but in m0NESY, we also see essential qualities of a world-class star. Mikey, the product promotion director and FPL project manager at FaceIT, praised m0NESY, stating, “From the feedback of pro players and m0NESY’s stats, I can confirm that he is one of the best talents to ever appear in FPL and may be the best CS:GO player at the age of 15.
Although still very young, the boy has been recognized by many as one of the top 10 players in FPL. That is truly insane, but in m0NESY, we see something even more valuable than talent: he is extremely mature, hardworking, always remains calm, gives sound advice to other players, and praises them in private conversations.

It is clear that m0NESY embodies all the elements of a future star: innate talent, a passionate commitment to CS, maturity in thought, and calmness beyond his 15 years. If m0NESY continues on the path he has chosen, as Mickey said, the title of #1 in the world will surely one day belong to him.
