In patch 13.10 not long ago, Riot Games decided to upgrade Infinity Edge to Mythic status. This item now directly adds critical damage instead of relying on critical strike chance as before. Additionally, Infinity Edge also increases attack damage (AD) based on the number of Legendary items the player owns.

However, these changes from Riot Games have faced considerable opposition from players. The main reason is that Infinity Edge does not possess any additional passive or active effects to enhance damage for champions. Meanwhile, other Mythic marksman items (Galeforce, Navori Quickblades…) have extremely strong effects alongside pure stats.
Furthermore, providing only 5 AD for each Legendary item from Infinity Edge is considered too weak. As a result, after patch 13.10 was released, Infinity Edge only has an extremely limited purchase rate of 3.2% according to statistics from LeagueofGraphs. In contrast, the purchase rate for Galeforce is 8.1% (the highest among Mythic items).

Not stopping there, the ‘new’ Infinity Edge is even not favored by marksmen dealing critical damage. Notably, Jhin and Caitlyn usually prioritize the mobility from Galeforce. While Infinity Edge does provide a lot of damage, marksmen building this item often find themselves unable to play effectively in team fights.

In summary, the decision not to give Infinity Edge any valuable active or passive effects has led to Riot receiving a lot of pushback from the community. Hopefully, Riot will take these opinions into account to make more reasonable adjustments to Infinity Edge in the near future.
