Since its launch to the global gaming community, League of Legends has quickly established itself as the number one title in the esports scene and entertainment games in general. Over time, LoL has even been referred to as the national MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game and is set to become a medal sport at the upcoming ASIAD.

However, over time, League of Legends has also faced certain issues that almost every game encounters. For example, there have been negative attitudes from a segment of players, game bugs… Riot has implemented some measures, but they have yet to effectively resolve the issues. In recent years, as Riot has released new titles and put more focus on these newcomers, many thoughts in the League of Legends community suggest that Riot is “neglecting” the game that was once its “golden goose”.

Recently, another player pointed out signs that Riot is not giving the proper attention to its customers from League of Legends. Specifically, while playing LoL, this player encountered several individuals with quite negative attitudes. However, when reporting to Riot, what they received was an automated reply crafted by artificial intelligence (AI). In fact, the reply even explicitly stated the address from which the AI generated the message.

This player posted the content confirming that the letter was AI-generated on League of Legends community forums, sparking a wide range of opinions. Some argue that Riot has become too “lazy” and has decided to let AI respond on its behalf. Meanwhile, more optimistic individuals believe that Riot staff may have used AI to assist with their workload when they need to respond to numerous player reports.
However, later, this letter was replaced with another version confirming that no AI was used from Riot’s staff. Additionally, the representative from Riot who responded to the letter stated that this was a personal error. However, the justification has not been fully accepted by the community.

Previously, Riot was one of the strongest opponents of using AI in the gaming field, especially in esports. However, if the use of AI to respond to letters is true, Riot shows once again that they are losing trust from the community as well as “neglecting” their most famous game.
