As we know, on June 27 (Vietnam time), fans of League of Legends (LoL) in the LCK and worldwide were shaken. Specifically, a renowned player, who has played for many major teams in the LCK and is currently the captain of an “all-star” lineup, has been implicated in an unhealthy relationship with a girl. This player was later identified as Clid, the jungler and captain of Hanwha Life Esports (HLE).

In a recent development, Clid’s representatives issued an apology, but the apology was directed not at the female “victim” but rather towards the audience and coaching staff of the team. This has further fueled the controversy over Clid’s insincere apology. Moreover, according to the translated content of the apology, Clid’s representatives even partially blamed the girl and claimed that Clid’s harassing remarks were merely expressions of affection.

Notably, this is not the first time Clid has faced issues regarding his personal life. Clid’s situation has also impacted HLE, as the players were unable to practice right before their match against Dplus KIA. Many fans noticed that the HLE players were only playing ARAM together because their practice schedule was canceled due to Clid’s incident.

However, some opinions suggest that Clid may not face any penalties, or if he does, they will be merely symbolic. Nevertheless, it seems that Clid’s chances of remaining with HLE will close after the 2023 season ends. Clid himself is also not performing well and has yet to prove he is truly worthy of being a leader. This current scandal is just another reason for HLE to consider parting ways with Clid. As for his teammates, only a few individuals, like Zeka or Viper, have performed up to expectations. This has led to a very challenging Spring 2023 for HLE. Just as they seemed to show signs of improvement, they became entangled in Clid’s troubles.

As for HLE, after the 2023 season concludes, the team may undergo significant restructuring, especially if they cannot secure a spot in the 2023 World Championship, let alone contend for the LCK Summer 2023 title.
