Recently, the LCK has officially announced the verdict in the case of Clid. For those who may not know, while the LCK Summer 2023 is halfway through the group stage, Clid was accused by a female fan of making highly sensitive and inappropriate remarks and actions that could be perceived as 18+ harassment during their online conversation. Immediately, Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) removed Clid from the roster and began an investigation into the matter alongside Riot Korea and the LCK organizers.
According to the penalty from the LCK organizers and Riot, Clid will be banned from all professional League of Legends activities for one year. This penalty effectively marks the end of Clid’s League of Legends career. However, some predict that at 24 years old, when the penalty concludes, Clid will be 26 — an age considered relatively high for a pro player. Thus, this punishment can be seen as the conclusion of Clid’s career in the professional League of Legends scene as a player.
However, amidst the discussions around Clid’s punishment, another name has come up: Aiming — the Marksman currently representing KT Rolster (KT). In the LCK Summer 2023, Aiming’s brilliant performance and minimal mistakes were crucial in helping KT secure the top spot in the group stage. However, the KT team failed to maintain the composure and resilience needed to claim the title.
Some fans have recalled Aiming’s past relationship with a minor a few years ago, where he was 19 and his then-girlfriend was 15. Moreover, Aiming had had sensitive relations with the young girl at that time. Aiming later sent a heartfelt apology to his ex-girlfriend and took full responsibility for his actions. However, no official punishment was imposed on Aiming at that time.
However, there are opinions suggesting that Aiming’s case might not be pursued further as too much time has passed. Furthermore, Aiming is currently a key player for KT. Therefore, the matter may be “swept under the rug,” especially since, for KT fans, this “talented yet flawed” player has been making significant improvements.
