After their defeat against T1 in the LCK Spring Finals 2022, Chovy and his teammates from Gen.G Esports once again left empty-handed at the domestic tournament. Except for the jungler Peanut, the rest, including veteran marksman Ruler, have never won any LCK championship in their careers. However, Ruler still has a World Championship title with Samsung Galaxy. Meanwhile, Chovy, Lehends, and Doran are in an even worse position. As of now, the three former Griffin players still have no titles to their name.

Among them, Chovy is the player who has the most complicated relationship with Faker. Although he has only been a professional for a little over 3 years (since the 2018 season), Chovy has faced Faker a total of 6 times in BO5 matches, 3 of which were in finals. Of course, the outcome saw the midlaner, considered one of the best in LCK today, completely defeated by the legendary senior.

But Chovy probably doesn’t need to be too sad. After all, not only he but many legends of the League of Legends world have suffered defeats at the hands of Faker. First is Smeb – one of the best top laners that LCK has ever produced. Throughout his long career, Smeb has always been regarded as the only player who could come close to the level of MaRin or TheShy. And Smeb was also a key factor in making the matches between SKT T1 – ROX Tigers or the “media war” SKT T1 – KT Rolster more exciting.
Unlike Chovy, Smeb has reached the LCK championship title. However, on the world stage, Faker is the one who has caused the legendary top laner of ROX to suffer. At the 2015 World Championship, the undefeated SKT T1 faced ROX (then known as KOO Tigers). And the result is well-known. What Smeb and his teammates achieved was just a consolation game win.

Expanding beyond LCK, another player who has also “bitten the bitter fruit” when facing Faker is the “Super Marksman” Uzi. Dominating the LPL and winning the MSI, Uzi still remains empty-handed at the World Championship, all because of… Faker. In the 2013 World Championship finals, Uzi’s Royal Club (the predecessor of Royal Never Give Up) suffered a devastating defeat and witnessed Faker claim his first World Championship title. In 2016 and 2017, RNG made it to the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively, with the victor being none other than SKT T1.

Alongside Smeb and Uzi, there are other names that have never won against Faker in important matches, such as GorillA, PraY, Kuro, Peanut… And perhaps, with Faker continuing to compete, this list may extend even further in the future.
