Currently, both Chovy and ShowMaker are among the top Mid Lane players in the LCK region. With the World Championship (Worlds) 2023 approaching, it’s understandable that the media is digging into these outstanding players.

Recently, a video discussing Chovy’s tumultuous career has garnered significant attention within the League of Legends community. Specifically, this video features insights from former Griffin head coach cvMax about discovering Chovy’s talent. The coach admitted that he was initially looking for a young Mid Lane talent, and the first choice was ShowMaker.

At that time, coach cvMax asked ShowMaker to come to Griffin’s headquarters in the evening for an interview and to test his skills. However, ShowMaker appeared quite ‘lazy’ and requested to postpone the interview until the next day. Coach cvMax was not pleased with this attitude and shifted his focus to selecting Chovy for the Griffin lineup.

Furthermore, the coach discovered that ShowMaker had already reached a personal agreement with DAMWON Gaming. Therefore, attempting to persuade this player was unnecessary. Instead, Chovy was a much safer choice, especially since the skill levels of the two players were not vastly different (according to coach cvMax).

Had ShowMaker accepted coach cvMax’s offer that day, it’s quite possible he would have joined Griffin. Additionally, if Chovy had not been guided by this coach, he might have struggled to reach the star status he currently holds. In fact, Chovy could have even ‘disappeared’ from the LCK tournament scene if he hadn’t started his career at Griffin.

Of course, the aforementioned scenario did not occur, and both Chovy and ShowMaker have succeeded in their own ways. It would be a real shame for the LCK tournament if one of these bright Mid Lane stars were to be absent.
