On July 26, after nearly 2 months of competition, the PUBG MOBILE Pro League Vietnam S1 tournament has come to an end. Surprisingly, despite predictions that it would be difficult to defend the championship, BOX Gaming has overcome many powerful teams, continuing to raise the national championship trophy for the third time in history.
Although he has had similar victories throughout his career, Loki – the handsome “God of Trickery” of BOX Gaming still couldn’t hide his emotions: “This is the most special and important championship for myself” – Loki shared.

Loki’s real name is Nguyễn Thành Trung, a 90s boy with a fiery and strong playstyle, often leading the charge in the attacks of the teams he participates in. From the very first day he joined, he has always been a core and indispensable member contributing to the unprecedented era of dominance of the “King” BOX Gaming.
The title “God of Trickery” of Loki originated from his current nickname, based on the name of a North European deity, recognized by the community as a way to acknowledge his excellent skills in professional matches. Additionally, with his handsome appearance, Loki has also been given another nickname by female fans, referring to him as the “Tony Leung” of the PUBG Mobile Vietnam scene.

According to Loki, this championship was also the most challenging for BOX Gaming, as they only knew who the champion was in the final round. The moment he learned that he had once again won, Loki said he felt liberated, and all the effort and perseverance throughout the time had yielded a deserving result. Before this tournament, he had mostly prepared mentally for defeat, so when he won the tournament, he felt like the Loki of today had defeated the Loki of the past.
This championship stands out more than usual because the overall level of the teams has improved significantly, no longer dominated solely by the skills of the top teams as in the tournaments of 2019, but completely thanks to the strategic thinking ability and the precise timing of each team’s explosive moments. Stopping at Top 8 in the Qualifiers, in the Finals, BOX Gaming showed a completely different face full of calculations:
“BOX Gaming has an advantage in that we secured a spot to definitely advance through the Vietnam Qualifiers. Therefore, we utilized this well to observe our opponents more. The breakthrough on the second day was exactly what BOX Gaming wanted. The first day was too easy to draw attention from the opponents, and on the third day, there would be no chance if mistakes were made. Fortunately, this plan succeeded.” – Loki shared about the reasons for their victory.

This victory also fulfills the unfinished dream of BOX Gaming in 2019 when the champion will secure a direct spot in the World Qualifiers, while also denying all rumors about the decline of BOX Gaming with the new roster. For Loki personally, it also affirms his life philosophy: “A new attitude determines everything; as long as you are persistent and strive with all your effort, success is always within reach.”
Facing pressure from public opinion that his team was past their prime, Loki not only did not succumb but also stood strong alongside Louis, Pimay, and Huy Gà. He even sees this as a positive motivation for the entire team to strive harder; ultimately, thanks to believing in themselves and their teammates, BOX Gaming once again raised the championship trophy, confirming that the “King” is still very much in his prime.

Looking towards the future, Loki stated that his ambitions will not stop here. He promises to conquer new dreams with BOX Gaming, to become the leading flag of PUBG Mobile Vietnam flying high not only in the Southeast Asian arena but also internationally. “I still want to win many more prizes to save money… for my wedding” – Loki humorously said.
Loki and his teammates will continue to participate in the PMPL Southeast Asia Finals taking place from May 1-3, with a guaranteed spot in the PUBG Mobile World League 2020.
Let’s tune in to support the reigning champion of Vietnam!
