BLG’s Confusing Decision Ahead of the 2024 World Championship
To achieve dominance in the LPL last season, BLG made some noteworthy personnel changes. In addition to recruiting Knight at the start of the season, they also brought in a highly anticipated player, Wei from RNG. This player has been an excellent solution for BLG as Xun showed signs of dropping performance, and Wei’s experience has greatly assisted the team in overcoming tough moments to secure the seed 1 position in the LPL for the upcoming World Championship 2024.

However, LPL fans recently discovered that BLG made a decision deemed ‘self-destructive’ regarding Wei. Although he was the main Jungler during the summer split, Wei did not participate in the practice matches preparing for the 2024 World Championship. Instead, Xun was the one practicing with the teammates while Wei frequently played ranked solo. This situation persisted for three consecutive days, causing frustration among BLG and LPL fans.

There’s More to BLG’s ‘Self-Destructive’ Decision Ahead of the 2024 World Championship
Shortly after discovering the aforementioned decision from BLG, several reports emerged regarding the issues Wei is currently facing. Rumors suggest that Wei is still technically under contract with RNG and that he joined BLG on a loan deal. Under this agreement, RNG receives an additional fee for each match Wei plays for BLG, and this fee increases if the match is significant.

Clearly, with matches at the 2024 World Championship being highly significant, BLG would have to pay RNG a substantial amount if they continuously utilize Wei. This is likely the main reason BLG allowed Xun to participate in practice matches recently to help him regain his competitive feeling. In that case, BLG might not need Wei as much and could save a considerable amount on costs by using their own player.

If the above rumors are true, it presents a significant disadvantage that BLG must confront at the upcoming 2024 World Championship. They are the seed 1 team from the LPL and have high expectations to bring glory to this region. If financial issues and contractual obligations with RNG prevent BLG from fielding their strongest lineup, it would be a huge disappointment. This could even lead to regret for BLG if they cannot utilize an experienced international player like Wei, who is currently in top form.
