BLG Ends LPL’s Forgettable Streak Against LCK
Recently, the First Stand 2026 officially kicked off with the first two matches being BLG vs BNK and TSW vs G2. While the second matchup had a noticeable power disparity and the outcome was somewhat predictable, the opening match of this year’s tournament in Brazil was incredibly exciting, with both teams delivering a thrilling performance filled with spectacular clashes. The result wasn’t too surprising as BLG ultimately claimed victory, but this achievement holds even greater significance for the entire LPL region.

Specifically, with their victory over BNK, LPL teams have ended a series of BO5 losses against LCK teams, dating back to the 2024 World Championship finals. Among the forgettable results against LCK representatives, AL has notably suffered the most losses against teams from South Korea, with 3 defeats, 2 of which were against T1. BLG and TES have each faced LCK in 2 BO5 matches and lost, while IG’s additional loss occurred during the Play-in match against T1 last year.

Among the teams that have defeated LPL representatives on the international stage, T1 unsurprisingly has the most wins, totaling 6 matches. Meanwhile, the two top teams that have often surpassed T1, Gen.G and HLE, have each only secured 1 victory against LPL teams in BO5 matches—a remarkably low number.

However, BLG Leaves Many Questions After Their First Stand 2026 Debut
There’s no denying that the LCK representative fought hard, with Diable showcasing himself as a truly promising ADC, but BLG also made several mistakes that prevented them from closing out the match earlier, even in games where they had an early advantage. This is a concerning trend for the LPL Split 1 champions, as opponents like Gen.G or even G2 will certainly not allow LPL to recover if they make similar mistakes as they did in the recent match against BNK.
