BLG Player Achieves “Unprecedented” Feat in League of Legends History
Recently, BLG defeated TES in the LPL finals and was crowned champions, successfully defending their title despite being the most doubted team this year. In fact, before the start of the LPL Split 3, the team favored by both fans and experts was AL. BLG’s championship also enabled one player to set a historic milestone, namely Shad0w.
BLG crowned LPL champions.
Accordingly, BLG’s jungler became the first foreign player from Europe to win the domestic LPL championship. Moreover, BLG is also the first team to win the domestic tournament while using a rotating roster throughout the matches. In fact, there were several games where BLG utilized either Beichuan or Shad0w, only to substitute after unsatisfactory results.
Shad0w becomes the first LEC player to win the domestic LPL championship.
In 2025, many teams employed substitution strategies when players did not perform as expected. However, apart from BLG, none of these teams could claim the championship. Even the “pioneering” name in this regard – T1 faced dismal results and almost failed to qualify for MSI 2025.
Shad0w and BLG Stand on the Threshold of History
Currently, Shad0w’s situation can be described as “one of a kind.” He joined the LPL without much fame, having spent nearly half of his career in mid-tier teams. Thus, this chance to participate in Worlds can be considered a rare opportunity for Shad0w.
Shad0w has the chance to become the first European player to win Worlds since FNC’s championship 14 years ago.
Given BLG’s current strength, their potential to advance far in the 2025 Worlds is entirely feasible. If BLG can reach the finals and even claim the championship, Shad0w will become the first European player to win Worlds since the tournament changed and refined its format, as the last time a European team won this event was 14 years ago.
